Connect Google Search Console
Connecting Search Console unlocks two powerful features: GSC-powered prompt discovery (Starter+) and GSC Page Suggestions (Premium). The connection takes about 60 seconds.
Prerequisites
- You must own (or have Full access to) a verified GSC property for your domain.
- You'll connect using the Google account that has access — it doesn't have to be your Scout login email.
Connecting
-
Open Settings → Integrations → Google Search Console
-
Click "Connect Search Console"
You'll be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen. Sign in with the account that has GSC access.
-
Approve the read-only permission
Scout asks for read-only access to your Search Console data (
webmasters.readonly). We never write anything back to GSC. -
Pick the property
If you have access to multiple GSC properties, Scout will ask you to pick the one matching your brand domain.
-
Done
You'll be redirected back to Scout with a green "Connected" status. GSC data starts flowing within minutes.
What Scout reads
The connection has read-only scope. Scout reads:
- Search queries (impressions, clicks, CTR, average position)
- Pages (URLs and their performance)
- Top countries and devices
That's it. No edits. No re-submitting URLs. No verification changes.
What it unlocks
- GSC prompt discoveryThe Prompt Discovery page can pull real buyer queries from your impression data and propose them as Scout prompts. Learn more →
- GSC Page SuggestionsPremium-only. Scout proposes specific edits to your existing pages based on the queries hitting them. Learn more →
Disconnecting
Open Settings → Integrations → Google Search Console → click Disconnect. The OAuth token is revoked and Scout immediately stops fetching GSC data. Any GSC-powered features will silently fall back to non-GSC data.
If you connected but see no data after 30 minutes, the most common cause is that you connected the wrong GSC property (e.g. the http:// version instead of https://). Disconnect and reconnect, picking the right property this time.
