Introduction

This Website is owned and operated by Cogvert Marketing (“we”, “us”, “our”), who is the Data Controller for the purposes of applicable data protection laws. We take privacy seriously and have therefore created this Privacy Policy to explain how we collect, use, and protect Personal Information obtained through our website and in connection with the services we provide.

We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and other relevant laws.

By providing Personal Information to us, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not submit any Personal Information through this website. We reserve the right to update or amend this Policy at any time. You can determine when this Policy was last revised by checking the “Last Updated” date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the website following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

Personal and Non-Personal Information

We may collect personal identification information from users in various ways, including when users visit our website, fill out forms, subscribe to communications, or engage with our services, features, or resources. Personal information collected may include, but is not limited to, name, email address, company name, and contact details.

Users may visit our website anonymously. We collect personal identification information only when users voluntarily submit such information. Users can refuse to provide personal information; however, this may limit their ability to engage in certain activities or access specific services.

We may also collect non-personal identification information whenever users interact with our website. This may include browser type, device type, operating system, Internet service provider, and other technical information related to how users access the site.

Use, Sharing, and Control of Personal Information

If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for marketing purposes, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us via the details provided below.

We do not sell, trade, or rent users’ personal identification information to third parties. We may share personal information with trusted partners or service providers where necessary to deliver our services, comply with legal obligations, or where we have your explicit consent. We may also send promotional information about third parties where it is relevant to your interests and permitted by law.

You may request details of the personal information we hold about you. Where applicable, a small administrative fee may be payable. You also have the right to request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete data, and we will promptly update our records where required.

Cookies and Data Collection

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website’s server. Cookies help websites remember user preferences and improve the overall browsing experience. Cogvert Marketing uses cookies to enhance website functionality and performance.

We use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use our website. These tools use cookies to collect anonymised information about website usage, including pages visited, time spent on the site, and navigation behaviour. This data does not identify individual users and is used solely to improve website performance and user experience.

Third-party cookies may also be placed on your device when our website includes referral programmes, sponsored links, or advertisements. These cookies are typically used for conversion and referral tracking and usually expire within a defined period. No personal information is stored or collected through these cookies.

We may automatically collect and store information about your visit, including:

  • Internet domain and IP address used to access the website
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Date and time of access
  • Referring website address (if applicable)
  • Pages visited, entered, and exited

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. As browsers and operating systems vary, please refer to your browser’s help section for guidance.

Email Communications and Newsletters

Cogvert Marketing may conduct email campaigns to share updates about our services, insights, and relevant industry information. These emails may include tracking features to analyse engagement, such as email opens, link clicks, and interaction timing. This data is used to improve the relevance and effectiveness of our communications.

All subscribers are provided with the option to unsubscribe at any time via a link included in each email. If an automated unsubscribe option is unavailable, clear instructions will be provided within the communication.

Cogvert Scout — Use of Google User Data

Cogvert Scout is a product operated by Cogvert Marketing (referenced throughout this Policy as “we”, “us”, or “our”). This section applies specifically to users who connect their Google account to Cogvert Scout.

What Google data we access. When you connect Google Search Console to Cogvert Scout, we request the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/webmasters.readonly scope. This allows us to read, in read-only mode, the following data from the Search Console properties you have verified ownership of:

  • The list of verified site properties on your account
  • Search performance data: search queries, landing pages, clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position

We do not request write access. Cogvert Scout cannot submit sitemaps, request indexing, modify property settings, or take any other action against your Search Console account.

Separately, when you sign in to Cogvert Scout using “Sign in with Google”, we request only the openid, email, and profile scopes — used to identify
your account and pre-fill your name and profile picture. We do not access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google service.

How we use this data. Search Console data is used solely to power user-facing features inside Cogvert Scout, namely:

  • Prompt discovery — surfacing real search queries you already rank for, so you can track them as AI-visibility prompts
  • Page-level optimization suggestions — identifying pages with Google traffic but weak or missing AI-engine citations
  • Demand coverage analytics — pairing your AI-mention data with real Google search demand

The data is shown only to you (and to teammates you have explicitly invited to your workspace). It is not used for advertising, profiling, lending decisions, credit scoring, or any purpose unrelated to the features described above. It is not used to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any generalised AI or machine-learning model.

Limited Use disclosure. Cogvert Scout’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Storage and security. OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored in our database in association with your user account. Search Console performance data is fetched on-demand and cached for up to 15 days to limit redundant API calls. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Tokens are not shared with any third party and are not used by any human operator except for diagnostic purposes with your explicit request.

Disconnecting and deletion. You can disconnect Google Search Console at any time from inside Cogvert Scout: Dashboard → Search Console → “Disconnect” button. Disconnecting (a) immediately revokes the OAuth grant at Google, and (b) deletes your stored access and refresh tokens from our database. You can additionally revoke access directly at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To request deletion of all cached Search Console data and your full account, email us using the address below.

No third-party transfers. Google user data is not sold, traded, transferred, or otherwise made available to any third party. The data is processed only on infrastructure operated by Cogvert Marketing (DigitalOcean) and is not shared with advertising networks, data brokers, or any external AI training pipeline.
